I was misdiagnosed with SI joint problems and was almost fused when it was truly Piriformis Syndrome. I got my muscles (yes, 15 percent of folks who had muscle removal surgery actually have two on one side) removed by Dr. Tim Tollestrup who perfected the surgery for this condition. Best decision I ever made! No movement problems as it is just an assist muscle. Several other muscles do the same job. That little 1" x 2" muscle does more harm than good! The sooner it's removed, the less damage it can do to other nerves.
